President of the Republic of Colombia Ivan Duque Marquez cut the ribbon and delivered a speech at the project's delivery ceremony. The President thanked Trina for their important contribution to bringing the Los Llanos project online. He says the project will provide safe, reliable and permanent energy for tens of thousands of Colombian homes. The President noted that Colombia has made great strides in renewable energy, with solar and wind installations expected to increase more than sevenfold by 2022.
Los Llanos Phase I and Phase III, both developed by Trina Solar's Overseas Systems Division, have a total installed capacity of 82 megawatts.Trina Solar (Colombia), a wholly owned subsidiary of Trina, provided construction management (EPCM) services for the project. The first phase of the 27-megawatt project was completed and delivered in October 2020. With a capacity of 27 megawatts, the second phase of the grid-connected project will generate 51 gigawatt hours of electricity per year, equivalent to the consumption of 23,800 homes, and will reduce approximately 19,450 tons of carbon dioxide per year.
Mr. Ernst Yo, President of Trina International Power Station Business, said that it is a great honor for our project to be connected to the grid and welcomed Mr. Duke, President of Colombia, to cut the ribbon and make a wonderful speech.
